HRMC Foundation Bob Myers Fund Encourages Early Detection of Colorectal Cancer
In order to raise awareness of the importance of early detection in preventing colorectal cancer, the HRMC Foundation sponsored Go Blue – Get Screened to Win! The program, which was funded by the Bob Myers Cancer Prevention fund encourages area residents to schedule a colonoscopy by making the call by the end of 2020 in order to be entered to win an entertainment prize package valued at up to $150.
Janice Christensen, of Huron, answered the call and scheduled her colonoscopy at the urging of her physician Dr. Christopher Bronson, an internist at HRMC Physicians Clinic. “I was a little overdue for my every 10 year screening and Dr. Bronson was pretty firm about the importance of regular screening – which, of course I knew as a nurse. I just needed a little encouragement and the reminder. Having a chance to win this entertainment package was icing on the cake!”
“We’re grateful to all of our donors and the Bob Myers family who make it possible for us to promote awareness as part of the “Health and Wellness” pillar of our Healthy Huron mission,” said Shawn Martin, HRMC Foundation executive director.
