HRMC Foundation Helping Hands Fund Awards $6,000 in Scholarships
Huron, S.D. – Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) Foundation announces the recipients of 12 Helping Hands family and employee scholarships totaling $6,000, according to Shawn Martin, executive director.
“Our purpose in providing Helping Hands scholarships is to encourage HRMC employees and their children in their educational pursuits,” said Martin. “Each year, we receive many qualified applicants and it is fun to learn about the plans and dreams of our future generation.”
HRMC Foundation Scholarship Recipients:
Allison Bich, who works as a pharmacy technician at HRMC and is pursuing a degree in pharmacy at South Dakota State University.
Stone Burke, who is the son of HRMC physical therapy assistant Kelly Burke, and is pursuing bachelor of science in biology from Dakota Wesleyan University.
Taylor Hornig, who works as a nursing aide at HRMC and is pursuing a pursuing a diploma in practical nursing from Southeast Technical Institute Huron site.
Erin Isackson, who works as a receptionist in HRMC’s emergency room and is pursuing a bachelor of science in nursing from South Dakota State University.
Lindsey Leyendecker, who is the daughter of Cheri Leyendecker who works as a nurse at HRMC Physicians Clinic, and is pursuing a degree in pharmacy from South Dakota State University.
Jennifer Koerner, who works as an LPN at Women’s Wellness Center and is pursuing a registered nursing degree.
Chloe Miner, who is the daughter of Tom Miner, an ER physician assistant, and is pursuing a bachelor of science degree in nursing from South Dakota State University
Kayla Purintun, who is the daughter of Stephanie Metzger, RN, emergency room director, and is pursuing a diploma in practical nursing from Southeast Technical Institute Huron site.
Brandon Renner, who is the son of Sheila Renner who works in HRMC’s laboratory, and is pursuing a degree in electrical engineering from South Dakota School of Mines
Jacob Rieger, who is the son of HRMC vice president of marketing Kim Rieger, and is pursuing a bachelor of science in psychology degree at Augustana University.
Norma Torres, who works as a nurse at HRMC Physicians Clinic and is pursuing a master of science degree through the family nurse practitioner program at Presentation College.
Jordyn Zavesky, who works in food service HRMC and is pursuing a graphic communications degree from the Minnesota State University-Moorehead.
“The HRMC Foundation Scholarship Program provides financial support to help ensure that the Huron area continues to have quality, dedicated healthcare staff,” explained Martin. “We sincerely appreciate our dedicated donors who make this scholarship program possible.”
In addition to these Helping Hands family and employee scholarships, the board also awarded 25 Health Care Interest scholarships and 13 Commitment scholarships to students from the region who have committed to work in the community after graduation. These recipients will be announced in the future.
