HRMC Foundation Awards $4,500 in Health Care Interest Scholarships

Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) Foundation announces the recipients of 21 Health Care Interest scholarships totaling $4,500, according to Shawn Martin, executive director.

“Our purpose in providing these Interest scholarships is to encourage area students who may have an interest in health care to start their studies, even if they aren’t sure of their future plans,” said Martin. “These scholarships can help a student try out a health care major without the pressure of a commitment to return to the community to work.”

HRMC Foundation Interest Scholarship Recipients:

  • Kelsey King – who is pursuing a doctorate in physical therapy at the University of Minnesota.

  • Reagan Hamilton – who is pursuing a degree in pharmacy from South Dakota State University.

  • Hayden White – who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in human biology/pre-med from Augustana University.

  • Madison Witte – who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in nursing from South Dakota State University.

  • Kyra Thielbar – who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in nursing from South Dakota State University.

  • Plar Plo Clay – who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in nursing from University of South Dakota.

  • Mattie Huber – who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in psychology from South Dakota State University.

  • Ashley Robinson – who pursing a degree in nutrition and dietetics at the University of Northern Colorado.

  • Elle Hoops who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in human biology from University of South Dakota.

  • Kaitlyn Rathjen – who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in nursing from South Dakota State University.

  • Mackenzie Zell who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in medical biology from University of South Dakota.

  • Hayden Hegg who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in exercise science from South Dakota State University.

  • Shee Lar Paw who is attending the medical laboratory technician program at Mitchell Technical College.

  • Leah Pyle who is pursuing a nursing degree at Southeast Technical College.

  • Morgan Schmiedt who is attending the medical assisting program at Mitchell Technical College.

  • Lanessa Finn who is studying diagnostic medical sonography at Southeast Technical College.

  • Alexandria Gilbert who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in exercise science from the Southwest Minnesota State University.

  • Tenley Buddenhagen who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in pre-med/physical therapy at University of Jamestown.

  • Trinity Flowers who is pursuing a physical therapy assistant degree from Lake Area Technical College.

  • Autumn Wilkinson who is pursuing a pre-physical therapy degree from Augustana University.

  • Piper Jones who is studying pre-nursing at South Dakota State University.

“The HRMC Foundation Scholarship Program provides financial support to help ensure that the Huron area continues to have quality, dedicated health care staff,” explained Martin. “We sincerely appreciate our dedicated donors who make this scholarship program possible.”

In addition to these Health Care Interest scholarships, the board also awarded 12 Commitment scholarships to students from the region who have committed to work in the community after graduation. These recipients will be announced in the future.
