HRMC Foundation Helping Hands Fund Awards $5,000 in Scholarships
Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) Foundation announces the recipients of ten Helping Hands family and employee scholarships totaling $5,000, according to Shawn Martin, executive director.
“Our purpose in providing Helping Hands scholarships is to encourage HRMC employees and their children in their educational pursuits,” said Martin. “Each year, we receive many qualified applicants and it is fun to learn about the plans and dreams of our future generation.”
HRMC Foundation Scholarship Recipients:
Allison Bich, who works as a pharmacy technician at HRMC and is pursuing a doctorate degree in pharmacy at South Dakota State University.
Lindsey Leyendecker, who is the daughter of Cheri Leyendecker who works as a nurse at HRMC Physicians Clinic, and is pursuing a degree in pharmacy from South Dakota State University.
Shannon Katz, who works as a pharmacy tech at HRMC and is pursuing a degree in pharmacy at South Dakota State University.
Kayla Purintun, who is the daughter of Stephanie Metzger, RN, emergency room director, and is attending the medical laboratory technician program Mitchell Technical College
Brandon Renner, who is the son of Sheila Renner who works in HRMC’s laboratory, and is pursuing a degree in electrical engineering from South Dakota School of Mines
Gabe Rieger, who is the son of HRMC vice president of marketing Kim Rieger, and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and sports management at University of South Dakota.
Haley Pazour, who works as a nurse in the emergency room and is pursuing a Master of Science degree through the family nurse practitioner program at University of North Dakota.
Jordyn Cutshaw, who is the daughter of Debbie Cutshaw, RN, in cardiac rehab, and is studying human biology/pre-med at South Dakota State University.
Ryan Janes, who is son of Sam Janes, CRNA, in surgery and Karen Janes, RN, in home health and hospice, and is studying building trades at Lake Area Technical College.
Jaime O’Neill, who is the son of Kelly and Carmen O’Neill who work in the pharmacy, and is pursuing a degree in music education at South Dakota State University.
“The HRMC Foundation Scholarship Program provides financial support to help ensure that the Huron area continues to have quality, dedicated healthcare staff,” explained Martin. “We sincerely appreciate our dedicated donors who make this scholarship program possible.”
A total of $92,000 in scholarships were awarded through the Foundation this year. In addition to these Helping Hands family and employee scholarships, the board also awarded 21 Health Care Interest scholarships and 12 Commitment scholarships to students from the region who have committed to work in the community after graduation. These recipients will be announced in the future.
