HRMC's Rann Earns Certified Fund Raising Executive Designation

HRMC Foundation's executive director joins only 31 fund raising professionals certified in South Dakota.

Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) Foundation executive director, Paul Rann, recently earned the professional designation of Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), according to Kathy Van Heukelom, HRMC Foundation board chair.

Individuals granted the CFRE credential have met a series of standards set by CFRE International which include tenure in the profession, education and demonstrated fundraising achievement. They have also passed a rigorous written examination testing the knowledge, skills, and abilities required of a fundraising executive, and have agreed to uphold Accountability Standards and the Donor Bill of Rights.

Rann, who has led the HRMC Foundation for more than five years, is responsible for directing and coordinating fundraising, special events, community and donor relations and all other activities which bring the gifts of the community together to strengthen, support and enhance the Huron Regional Medical Center system of care. He joins only 31 fundraising professionals currently certified in South Dakota.

“This designation is proof of Paul’s dedication to continuous learning and passion for helping ensure quality health care is available into the future,” said Van Heukelom. “I am proud of his leadership and dedication to excellence.”

Founded in 2001, CFRE International is an independent nonprofit organization whose sole mission is dedicated to setting standards in philanthropy and help professionals show accountability, service and commitment to making a difference for good. “I wanted to pursue this designation because it’s important to me that our donors trust the HRMC Foundation in our stewardship of their gifts,” said Rann. “The process has helped me to grow professionally and also led to networking opportunities which will benefit not only me, but also the Foundation and our community.”

Originally from Lennox, South Dakota, Rann graduated from the University of South Dakota with a bachelor of science in political science and contemporary media and journalism. He is currently pursuing a master of business administration (MBA) through the University of Sioux Falls. He is also a recent Leadership South Dakota graduate.

The purpose of the HRMC Foundation is to raise gift income each year, which will be used to support and endow the maintenance and enhancement of healthcare services on behalf of HRMC. More information is available online at www.hrmcfoundation.org.
